The Carnivore’s Wine-of-the-Month Club
Cab & Slab Club is a partnership between McKinney Wine Merchant and McKinney’s famed butcher shop, ‘Local Yocal Farm-to-Market’. (this product does not ship, sorry!). Each month, members will pick up two generous servings of pasture-raised Wagyu or 100% Certified Angus beef steaks from Local Yocal and a world-class, collectible bottle of red wine selected by McKinney Wine Merchant. The targeted retail value of our monthly selections is $120 if purchased outside of membership so not only are you receiving world-class products, you’re getting a bargain as well!. The wine selection will most often be a Cabernet Sauvignon or Cabernet-based red wine blend but may occasionally (2-4 times/year) be another ‘big’ red such as Syrah, Chateauneuf-du-Pape or Pinot Noir.
What has been offered in the past? See these examples below. Each would cost about $120 outside of membership:
- 2 x 20oz Bone-in Wagyu Ribeye and Napanook Red Wine;
- 2 x 10oz 100% Angus Filet Mignon and Cakebread Cabernet Sauvignon;
- 1.5lbs. Wagyu Coulotte Steak and Nickel & Nickel Cabernet Sauvignon;
- 2 x 22oz Wagyu Tomahawk Ribeye and Chateau de Pibarnon Bandol Rouge
The initial membership is either 3 or 6 months and paid in full, up front. A recurring, month-by-month plan is available beyond your initial period. After you join, an announcement email is sent around the second week of each month which advises members of a 10-day pick-up window commencing the next day and spanning two weekends. Members pick up, take home, cook and enjoy. Accommodations outside of the window can usually be made. Renew your 3-month membership or enter for 6-months and Local Yocal will throw in, at no charge, their famous “Steak Class” for two people – a Saturday event where you learn everything you need to know about raising, marketing, cutting and cooking beef, including lots and lots of grilled samples. The regular cost of Steak Class is $50 per person.
